I have scrap wood. Can make hive bodies from pine and frames from cedar. Okay to mix wood types within a hive? I'll be putting the cedar frames within pine Langstroth hive bodies. I treat all hive parts with boiling bees wax, although the cedar I will not (except along the inside of the frame to promote comb adherence).
Different wood for frames will make no difference at all. Mixing wood types in boxes could be a problem if one expands and contracts with moisture changes more than the other, the one that moves less might split lengthwise.
I don't see a problem using different woods. Should be fine!
