making an early split

I am anewbee,I am installing a 5 frame nuk 4/20/13 I read somewhere?that I could make another split from that nuke in May any info would bee apreciated

Why rush it? I would let it build for longer than a month.

I would say it's to risky. You could end up with two weak to fair hives going into winter.
Were you going to buy a queen for this split? (30+ shipping?) I would just buy 2 nuks and be ahead of the game. If you let them raise raise a queen that will put you 30 or more days behind (if she mates and returns the first time).

Your goal should be to build up for a strong winter ready hive.

I am guessing you have a summer dearth like we do. I know last year you had a heck of a dearth.

As a new beek two things that will ensure your success:
1. You should start with two hives.
2. Monitor your mites.
