new hive

I should be getting my bees mid April.so i built a new hive so i can see inside with out taking it apart.I hope it works my grandson is looking forward to seeing the inside of a hive.I am new at this so if anyone can give me some pointers on what to put in it so the bees stay when i put them in it will be a big help.half of the top bars are 1 1/4 and half are 1 1/222_zps0a6c20c5.jpg 11_zps49727dae.jpg

I did something similar when I built a TBH. People get a charge out of seeing a bunch of bees but not much of interest happens out on the edge of the comb.
