Been awhile since I've posted. I discovered 2 years ago I'm allergic to bee venom, and have since sought treatment from an allergist, which is ongoing. But, I'm back now and wanting to keep bees again. I have the hives, and my nucs are ordered.
I have a nice patch of timber close to my house, and the landowner wants to allow me to have bees, but is concerned about his younger grandchildren that visit a few times a year. He is concerned they may get stung. He wants to know how far the bees will range from the hive, but as he only owns 8 acres of timber, I can't assure him his grandkids won't have contact with them.
So, anybody have a good argument to convince him to allow 2 hives on his property? I think he may want me to place the hives deep in the timber, which I don't want to do for obvious reasons... Late start every morning wouldn't get 2 new colonies going too quickly, etc.
Any help would be sincerely appreciated!
