Default Looking for suggestion for material for top of fume board.

I am making a few solar fume boards and was wondering what to use for the material that is supposed to get hot. The mann lake ones I have use a kind of corrugated dull matt plastic layer and then underneath a black felt. Any ideas? What have you found that works well?

ive have used ones that have stiff tin on them and an felt pad .. but they heat up WAY to fast

so now i use plywood with a 2 1/2 inch rim around it with a terry cloth staples to it and put honey robber in a old dawn soap bottle .... squirt some on and place upside down in the sun for 5 minutes and then start robbin.... once you start just keep going ...... we use 10 fume boards with 2 people pulling
one person maybe 4 is good ... too many fume boards and the bees get drunk before you get there !!!

I use a regular top cover with felt, old beach towels, or cut up jeans stapled onto the underside.

Some of the commmercially available fume boards just use what looks like black indoor / outdoor carpet stapled to the underside with the carpet part facing into the hive.
edit: They also have that "core-plast" corrugated plastic on the sun side. This is the material that some realtor / yard signs are made of. You could probably just spray paint one side black.

I have one from Mann Lake, or somebody, don't remember but it works really quickly using that almond scented spray.

Paint the top black and don't worry about solar.

    Adrian,

I have had good luck just using a piece of cardboard that I painted black on one side with some flat black stove paint I had on hand. When it gets pulled apart after getting stuck to boxes I just make a new one.
