What to do on super warm winter days?
It's gonna be 74 and 72 here this weekend, and sunny. Is it okay to open up the hives and do an inspection, or is it better to just let the bees be until spring is actually here before interrupting their winter homes? I saw SHB scurry when opening hives in mid-November, escaping their propolis jails, so I'm suspecting it'd be best for the bees if I just leave 'em alone since there'll be more cold days and nights ahead. BTW, red maples have already started budding and blooming here in the NC Piedmont.
