    Default second brood box

    when would be a good time to add a second brood box here in high springs fl because its been and going to be in the high 70s and low 80s for a while and i don,t want the bees to run out of roomthey have plenty of stores and have observation flights 1 or 2 times a week now for a few weeks and i don,t no how much room to give them thanks

    It doesnt matter where you bees live. All bees need a second brood box at different times. There is NO calendar date. Temperature is not the only factor. You could have 70 and 80 degree weather with no food coming in. No food means no brood means lots of empty cells. The time is when you inspect your bees (hopefully regular basis) and find they are filling up with nectar, brood and have little or no open cells on frames.

    That is the time to add your second brood box.

    It is commonly recommended that another box be added when the first one is about 80% drawn out and filled.
