If we could get plastic foundation cores without the wax topping in theory anyone could reuse there own wax by just dipping in to hot wax. Maybe one way to keep pure wax in our hives without using questionable foundation. But is there a source for plastic foundation cores?
"Plasticell" is an injected molded plastic raised cell sheet. The best plastic foundation available. Tested and proven as the ultimate in plastic foundation.
If you dip them in hot molten beeswax the foundation may warp. I am not sure what temp it happens but I do know they will melt/warp in a solar wax melter.
I understand that ALOT of beekeepers in Canada, purchase the "un-waxed" plastic foundation and Mann Lake DOES carry it, even though it is not listed in their catalog.
I think all of the plastic foundation can be ordered unwaxed if that is what you like. Most of the time it is a little bit cheaper that way.
