Hard Treatments / Soft Treatments - what's the difference?

I am reading these terms and I think they mean different things to different people. Is there a standard of what each mean?

As with all language it means whatever you want it to mean. I would say generally "hard" means something that used to be classified as an insecticide but is now being labeled as an acaracide. In other words something that is systemic and attacks the vital systems of the mite (and the bee). The "soft" usually just upset the balance of things such as the pH, like organic acids. Or they refer to various plant derived things such as essential oils (thymol, etc.). That is how the terms are generally used.
