Sun broke out here after 5 days of dreariness and even though it was cold out the bees were bringing in pollen. John
What?? Still 75 degrees over here.....
thats cruel to tease us with the temps winter has just begun here![]()
LOL Mike, the shadow owned that one bee hard. I'm sorry guys, it is relatively warm for this part of the year. 76 today with a low of 45 later. Duck hunting tomorrow!
Didn't watch long enough to see any pollen, but did see several bees on the still blooming clover.
Still got pollen here. Spotty frost but has not killed all of the blooms. Flowers in garden are in full bloom, marigolds and zinnias. Mustard is blooming. Still picking some cherry and grape tomatoes. SE MO.
My single deep only weighed a little at the first of Sept. Went to move it a few feet last weekend to get it some more sunlight and could not easily pick it up by myself.

Mine were flying and hauling pollen until it got cold. Only been in the mid 50's the last few days, and I've only seen a couple bees. They might be out and about mid-day, but I'm not home then. By evening they are all tucked up in the hives keeping warm.
Light frost here the other night, so there won't be much for them to gather anyway.
Now I've got to find something to do with my time until March!
Peter
Still bringing in pollen here, too. I've also been seeing some really heavy bees come in for landing.
Don't provoke a hive full of angry bees.
just looked at them some are flying and bringing in small amounts of pollen
Orange pollen being brought in yesterday here. Bees looked their loads were heavy.
beautiful day yesterday mid 60,s sun bees flying and hauling in the pollen
November 1 we had three colors of pollen coming in. Bright orange and two shades of cream. The orange one is dandelion. We have had nice warm days but the lows have been in the teens several times. I have no idea what the other two colors are.
Dave
More pollen today looks to be dandelion as i have seen a few still in bloom
I think we're through here now. Had them bringing in pollen two days ago. This morning the hive looked like this:

I hate that white pollen!
Funny thing is the girls are still working the clover in my yard. We've had some frost, but I guess it hasn't been quite cold enough to kill the clover yet. I really need to mow one more time!
