Garden spider wraps up a wasp
This isn't exactly about bees, but it does show a garden spider capturing a wasp near my log hive. I recently noticed the wasps are all over the bamboo which is directly behind the log hive. It turns out that wasps like the bamboo. They gather material (fibers?) for their paper nests. I'm especially sensitive to wasps around the hive because I lost a hive last year to wasps (at least indirectly.) So I was happy to discover a wasp in the web instead of one of my bees.
This is a creepy video of a garden spider wrapping up a wasp and injecting it with venom while it struggles in vain to sting. Creepy music provided by my brother.
If you hate wasps, you'll love this video...if you hate spiders, you'll be happy we are bigger than they are.
