Queen excluder

Is the substance on the queen excluder mainly propilis or wax?

Propolis around the rim where the boxes touch it, wax in the middle.

So they don't try to seal between the bars as they would on a propilis trap correct?

Sometimes they do but in my experience its more often wax, especially if they build comb or down from the nearest frames.

Most of it is usually wax. I wouldn't recommend leaving the excluder on all summer.
