Candy board feeding

Here in Maine, when is the earliest I can place my newly constructed candy boards on my two hives. On this forum I see a lot of folks wait till early spring. Is there a down side of placing them on when I wrap the hives next month?

I have never used them but I would think when you wrap would be the time to put them on after all they are emergency food

I have the BM winter inner covers. You make the candy in them and put them on in the fall. Last year I made extra candy and replenished them as needed. The bees loved it and it helps to control moisture. Dont wait too long to remove in the spring or they will build comb and fill it!
