Yeah, mine have been getting their walking papers recently as well. Just yesterday I was checking one of my remote hives and was kind of surprised to still see a couple of drones in residence.

Our last 4-5 night have been freezing, but I still have drones all over in my hives. I am surprised that they are not kicked out yet.

I need the drones still....Found queen cells today.Installed a high powered queen last month, saw her 27 SEP and have two emergency queen cells today. Good thing it will be mild weather for another few weeks here. She is supposed to have hygenic genes crossed with survivor queens, so those genes are worth preserving. I've noticed a lot of drones since I started feeding pollen patties. A good thing.

I try to learn from my mistakes, and from yours when you give me a heads up :)
I still have drones in one of my hives. The queens in both hives hatched mid last week. Maybe the bees know they need the drones at least for a little while longer.
I dread the day when we have our first female President...
That is something I did not see in my hive all summer was a drone. I did weekly inspections since I picked it up in July. I wonder if they had been run out already due to the poor performance of the hive?
I still have drones present, just not in the numbers I had one week ago since it did get down to the 30s here for one night

Drones are getting the boot here in southeast Ohio, along with the weak, lame, and the lazy ( no mercy ).

If the Queen laid the egg that became the drone, wouldnt she be mating with her son? Eeeuh!
Meridith
I am frequently confused
the queen was already mated. it is her daughter that would be mating with her brother.
DUH! srry, end of a og day. Thanks
