    Default old sugar water

I have 6 hives one of which is a 5 frame double stack nuc box. 2 weeks ago I gave sugar water to all the hives. all but one went through it fast the one that didn't take is a swarm I caught in my yard a good while back. I checked it the other day and it had what looked like pollen on top of it maybe mold. It doesn't seem to be touched at all. What can I do with this seems like a waste to pour it out. This is a about 2 gallons in a hive top feeder. I did a 25 lbs sugar to 16 qt stew pot. Can I give this to an other hive that will use it or is it too far gone to save. thanks Doeboy

If it's only mold and not fermented, it won't harm the bees...skim the scum. Perhaps add a little vinegar to prevent recurrence, and use it for feed.
If it is fermented, toss it.

Thank you I assume the smell would indicate fermentation?

If you are saying that you used 16 quarts of water with 25 lbs of sugar, your ratio may be too light.

This time of year most folks feed 2:1 which would be about 25 lbs of sugar to 6 quarts of water.
