We grew poppies from seed in February. It probably would have been faster to grow them in place, but we didn't know that. We were rewarded with this beautiful blossom which I was photographing when bees started pollinating it in a strange way. I thought "what the heck, I'm going to video this." The bee faces AWAY from the center of the flower, vibrated her wings rapidly hitting the stamens which showered her with pollen. After getting a layer of pollen, she hangs out on the outside of the flower and grooms her body, pulling the pollen off her 'back' and into her pollen baskets. I've never seen anything like this.
