Old swarm traps and mice
For about 5 years I have used the swarm traps made out of the molded fiber material. Up until this year I've always had good luck catching swarms with them. This year I have not caught any but I think that the mice have urinated in them so much I think the bees no longer find them attrative in spite of the lemongrass oil lures I've always used. Does this theory have any merit? I've had issues in the past where I periodically have to remove mice so I know they have taken residence from time to tome. Time to throw these traps away due to the smell?
