    Default Beetle

I have a nuc that was killed due to robbing after I robbed my bees for their honey. When I went to clean it out there was beetles about the diameter of a dime they were black with orange coloring just behind there heads. I smashed and killed all of them before thinking about getting a pic. Does anyone know what type of beetle this is? I have never seen these beetles before and should I be worried? One flew away I was shocked and reacted by killing them. They were eating the dead bees.

I think its a meat eating beetle. Ive seen beetles the size you described. I forget the exact color but they were mostly black. But they devour a large carcass in just a few days. That is if the buzzards dont get to it first. They only feed on the dead. I dont think you have anything to worry about.
