Had my first state inspection today. The inspector looked for mites and mite damage, etc.. The only thing he saw was one bee with a partial wing missing. Said it was deformed wing syndrome. The bee had been dead on top of the inner cover of one of my hives since last week and was disintegrating. He said our treatment regime was very good...continue on. Hated to tell him that means continue doing nothing and letting the bees take care of themselves. Lots less mites than there used to be! All hives passed with flying (pun intended) colors. He also seemed amazed how much nectar that they were bringing in---it was dripping off the frames as he was inspecting. My bees are so much better without chemicals and feeding. Love them more every day!!!
