Cells hatched but no queens??!!

Decided to post a new thread just to keep things tidy and separated here on the board. I thank all of you for your insight on the cloake board issue, tons of great information. My queen cells were due to hatch yesterday (9/3). I hung 2 cells in one of the nucs that I made up, and checked things today. Both cells hatched (see picture), but I cannot find a queen. Its only a 5 frame nuc, I figured I would be able to see the queen rather quickly. Any thoughts on what may have happened??

They may be in there, just difficult to see. Many queens in my nucs don't get spotted until they are laying, for some reason.

Virgin queens can be nearly indistinguishable from their sisters. Patience.
Another week and she should begin to mate. A week later she will just begin to lay. And a week after that you should see larvae. And at that point she should be pretty easy to spot.

I had some in 3 frame mating nucs this summer and the virgin queens were nearly impossible to find but 2 weeks later they were laying and easy to find.

Have seen them take flight when pulling out frame

When you check do it real early or way late so they are not out on a flight

Like Velbert said, virgin queens are often away from home, learning how to fly well.

yup virgin queens are small , and run like crazy! not like a mated queen.... they are not usually even looking in cells. give em at least a week prfereably 2 then worry
