Thumbs Up Just unpacked my Maxant 1400pl

i finally got the freight truck to land in my yard late this afternoon !! it was broke down since monday and my freight was on it : (

It looks very nice, never owning one before i do believe it looks like a good investment. But i see a lot of metal fillings in the tank from drilling out set screws ect, What can i use to wash it out with? it says in the booklet to only use water and no chemicals , is soap a bad idea? i know it might leave a residue , but i have sent free dishsoap i can use.

It's ruined and not safe to use for honey, I'll give you $100.00 for it .

Stainless steel is generally fine to wash with a light soap !

Yeah i though so, i also have a pressure washer i can spray it out with after scrubbing it out. i will just cover up the motor with a garbage bag or something. then let it air dry.

They make food grade cleaners for stainless, I doubt it's needed a little regular dawn on a sponge and a good rinse should be fine. The Maxant guy could probably guide you.
Bleach and other caustic cleaners are bad!

    Nice purchase, Ben!!!

I can feel your giddiness through your posts...I'd be the same way. A light washing and a good rinse should do it. The filings should rinse out easily...and they're on the extractor-side of your filters, not the honey jar side. I'm tickled for you, really nice extractor!!!!

Use dish soap and warm water and you will be good to go.
Going to talk to my shipper and ask why we are giving away free metal shavings.

Ok, $250, .........that's the "scrap" price of the metal and I'm doing him a favor by removing from his premises before anyone gets sick from the contamination!!!

well i washed it out 5 times with just water to get the metal pieces out. each time i dried it out with paper towel , the fillings stuck to it , i just got tired of doing it and gave up for the night. I helped my brother inlaw move today and i was tired.

i hope i got them all out.

i had my honey in a small room with a dehumidifier on constantly for about 4 full days, i hope it's enough, i am tired of waiting : )

Ben, if you haven't already thrown it out, the cardboard box it comes in makes a great dust cover for it.

Adrian, nice tip on the dust cover.

Dan, I don't think the 300 series of stainless steel is magnetic/ferrous.

After a quick trip to the honey house with a magnet...I see that you are correct...not that I ever doubted. It just never crossed my mind that it wouldn't be.
Ok...how about a good vacuum cleaner?

How about some packing tape to use as a "lint brush"?
