I planted 10 acres of Buckwheat and it just started blooming a week ago. Our early Golden started blooming about the same time. Our early bloom of Goldenrod does not normally produce very much nectar. The bees are working the Buckwheat very hard and I see very few bees on any of the Goldenrod. Almost all of the bees coming back to the hive have Buckwheat pollen on them, and maybe every 5 minutes a bee will come in with Goldenrod pollen on them. The field of buckwheat has so many bees in that when you get close to it you can hear it humming. All 10 of the hives on the field have an odor similar to Goldenrod, but I didn't know if it produces an off smell like the goldenrod nectar.
