Default Is it to late to split a hive in Texas.

I have a hive that I did not rob and would like to split if possible.

The short answer is yes. I'm sure there will be someone that disagrees.

The problem with short answers is this is agriculture. How strong is the hive? How many brood supers? What will the weather and nectar flow be before winter sets in? Are you using a mated queen or are they declining for up to 42 days and then recovering? How harsh will this winter be? If any or all of these are against you are you prepared or willing to work with it?

See, I told you...... You will be better off to spend your time treating them and making sure they are as healthy as they can be before winter and wait and split it into 2 or 3 nucs in early spring.
