Default How to go from castle to 4 nucs?

How do I go from a queen castle to nucs without losing existing field force? I have queen castle with (4) 2 frame sections. Some of the sections are pretty weak, I plan on transferring to my swarm trap nucs (dark camo colors), adding frames and a feeder to make up the 4 winter nucs. thinking I would also shake some bees into the box while making them up what keeps the bees from just going home?. The plan was to move the nucs 3 miles down the road but the sections are small and weak, the field bees are critical in numbers so I would do it at night, how soon do the bees return to their old house and the original bees from being too confused to find their queen?
    Second Idea was:
    • put another Queen castle with only a center divider on top of the existing.
    • move the center two sections to new Castle and block the two holes for this side.
    • Add frames of bees and feeder to each section (each hive donates a couple).

    am I overthinking this?
Any ideas would be helpful. Weather here in Boring Oregon is 78 and partial to full sun. Flow is over, we do not expect rain until September.

In my opinion it sounds like you're going to fast. If you don't have beards then they aren't strong enough to be giving more room. Wait a brood cycle or two, then give them more room. Or just do the ones that need it, the ones that you get worried they might swarm, do them individually as they get to that point. Put feeders on them and move them to a nuc. When you've gotten two of the sections moved to larger nucs, then remove two dividers and run what's left as a side by side nucs in a single divided box.

I just raised 4 queens, put them in here to mate now want to add a frame of brood and a feeder to get them wintered. The plan is to use Dr. Dewey Caron’s idea of using the ‘extra bees’ post flow to boost my overwinter nuc strength. Sounded like a solid philosophy just having difficult figuring out how to do it with my existing equipment.
BTW, one of the four is bearded half way up the box in the afternoon.
I intend to add a feeder with 1:1, the feeders I have take up almost 2 frame spaces.

So you have one ready, make a nuc out of it and set it next to the queen castle. I've not read or heard of Dr. Dewey Carson myself, but the 'extra bees' post flow would all be foragers, I would think.

You can also put a queen excluder and honey super on top and make them a welfare nation with wealth redistribution. The strongest section will feed the weak. If they are the hardest working upper-middle class that would really fit with the times.
