This is my first year, I started with a nuc in mid June. I have one deep and have added two supers so far and everything seems to be going great.
Tonight, about 30 minutes after sundown I was walking by the hive and noticed there were a lot of bees on the outside of the box. They had completely cover the lip on the bottom board and the entire face of the hive body.
Does this mean anything? It was a hot day, could they just be "sitting on the front porch"? Or is this is sign on some problem that i may have missed? Is this the first step to swarming?
Any thoughts?
