Marked Queen, should I be worried?

I was marking my new Italian Queen yesterday and had to much of a glop of paint on the tip of the marker and covered her back and part of her head. I thought about ordering another queen just to be safe but do you think she will be alright? I checked her today and she seems normal.

Mike, I would just inspect the hive for several weeks to make sure that she is not rejected however she will probably be ok, in the future you shouldn't have any problems finding her ......Bill

She didn't make it

On todays weekly inspection I couldn't find the queen and there were about a dozen capped queen cells. Oh well....lesson learned

Look like good cells. Cheap way to re-queen.

Good way to take care of your varroa mites for a year too! Unintentional IPM is IPM nonetheless!

Yeah, that happens. You can get paint on her thorax, her abdomen, her wings, but never on her head.

I have one of my own reared queens where I made a similar mistake but luckily missed her head. She has a yellow thorax, half yellow wings and a partly yellow abdomen. I have changed how I mark them now.

My sons have named her "The School Bus".

I've done that. Turned out fine but you should check every so often to be sure. For me, the paint near the head kind of disappeared after a few weeks and she looked "almost" like a regular marked queen after that.
