    Default Am i wrong?

I am visiting Hawaii and I looked up the Hawaiian bee keepers association and I called the number for more info because I wanted to attend a meeting while I was there visiting to expand knowledge and mynetwork. I called around 8:15 pm, the person who answered was very rude and I had asked him when his association meetings were, he then replied the meetings are boring and no one attends them he also told me if I wanted to learn anything to come out to the field and 'get my butt kicked by bees' he also said we are farmers and we get up at 4:00 in the morning so I should know better than to be calling..... I was wanting to know if anyone thought I was in the wrong for calling at 8 pm at night to inquire about more infomation about the Hawaii bee keepers association.

Unfortunately, There are people who get upset if you call at 8pm and others who will get upset if you call at 8am. I don't think you are in the wrong, although personally I would have called earlier in the afternoon. If this person is listed as a contact for the association, he should have more pride in the organization he is representing and be willing to assist those wanting to learn more about the passion of beekeeping.
Kudos for being willing to visit local associations and meeting local beekeepers. I try to do the same when I am traveling out of town.

Face it, your not one of them!
They are a closed society and you have to be born into them, if you get my drift, or you have to be accecpted into their closed circle!
    It's just not the bees!
    It's not you !

How were you to know he was a farmer?! When I am that tired, I turn off the ringer and let the calls go to message...

So while my mama taught me it is rude to call people after 8 pm, anyone who answers the phone should be prepared to be civil and respectful. Your contact was neither. He sounds like he's in a bad place, non?

I would go to the meeting and enjoy meeting the local beekeepers. I am sure one or two of them would be delighted to take you out for a bee butt-kicking!

If that guy wants to be left alone he should not answer his phone.
I know there are different time zones, but is 8 o clock Hawaii time midnight elsewhere.?.
Maybe he should practice daylight savings time. Then you can call him at 9.

Hit the nail on the head with this one. The natives of Hawaii tolerate people from the main land that's about it. This doesn't seem all that odd to me. Go figure conquering paradise just to burn it down ticks off the locals.

Man, I get up at 5 and go to bed at midnight, what his deal. Personally, I would consider that a little late for a business type call but nothing to be rude over. That's still 8 hours of sleep.

I would take him up on his offer and be there at 4 the next morning. After working with him all day I'm sure he would have a better attitude.
