Default New Beek here! How am I doing?

    http://youtu.be/I_b9pQZNGZI

I have a couple of videos of my bees. I am trying to raise them in a "nuc" style hive. I would appreciate any input, as I am very new to this and want my bees to be as successful as possible.

A little history concerning my bees:

I bought a nuc from a local beekeeper.
I did not find any eggs from the original queen, but I did observe the brood with the nuc mature.
I think the hive became honey-bound and the original queen may have left.
The bees did not move up into my second level, so I bought some drawn comb and added it to the hive.
They did not seem to move up until I did somewhat of a checkerboard.
I now have three deep hive-bodies and a deep super on top.
I use a hive top feeder and have stopped feeding with the entrance feeder.

Thanks in advance for all of the input!

Nice Vid, looks good. Think u just blew a little too hard. A normal exhale will get them to move. Good luck with the 5 frame set up, it should work well if you can keep on top of space issues.

Thanks JRG13. I will have to remember that! Not only is the sting uncomfortable and unwanted, I don't like losing good workers because of my mistakes...

    Johnny,
Looks good. Curious where you are located as you are listed as only "United States". Wondering if you plan on keeping them in the nuc sized boxes or moving them to something bigger.

I might suggest a long sleeved shirt.

I live in Georgia, thirty minutes from Atlanta...not sure how to change that on my profile. Yeah, always seem to rush out to my hive without a long-sleeved shirt and hate having to go back in the house.

These are GIRLS you are dealing with. If you want to have success with them, go back inside and change. You have to show them that you care about your welfare and theirs!

Yeah! Guess I should have used a little more romance and finesse!

As soon as they start filling my super I plan on adding another super...they have added a little wax... but that is it. I hope the fall honey flow will help them to make me some fresh honey!!!
