What about after the split?
I have successfully split my TBH into two. Killed or lost original queen by accident during the process, but both hives prevailed in providing a mated laying queen. Yea!
Now that both queens are laying well, should I manipulate extra combs in and out of the center of the brood area to get the queen to lay in them?. I have some empty comb in both hives to work with..
Will this stimulate the nurse or workers to make sure this comb is cleaned and prepared for eggs?
Also right now pollen resources seem to be slim, so I was considering feeding some kind of protein to supplement the initial wave of larvae present. Could someone shed some experience on that? preferably homemade options.
If there are some other tricks you guys use to help ensure successful splits let us know!
