I have two healthy hives that were started from nucs this spring. At this point they've both fully filled two deep brood boxes and are finishing off their first super. A recent mite count showed that the mite population was starting to increase (although still small) so I've decided to use some drone frames as another management techniques. I have two questions though.

1. Can I just put two foundationless frames in the hive and let the bees draw it out? If I remember correctly I think the bees will automatically drawn drone comb since everything else in the hive is drawn off standard wired foundation. I don't have any drone foundation on hand

2. Where is the best location to put the drone frame?

Thanks!
