Removing a queen excluder from beneath a brood box. When?
I have had a very smarmy colony ( with clipped queen). To stop them going I placed a queen excluder beneath the brood box (10 days ago). They have not made any new queen cells; however, the queen has not gone back into lay at all!
When should I remove the queen excluder? Any advice appreciated.

I'm not sure how your weather is there, but we are in a drought situation. When this happens, the queen will stop laying. To combat this situation, I temporarily feed the bees to make the queen lay. Works every time.
The queen "includer" in your case should be removed after 5 days or so.
Some bees are just prone to swarming.
