Using a sticky board with a slatted rack
Hello, everyone. I am new to beekeeping this year. I got my first two nucs at the end of April, and it's time now to do my first varroa check. I was going to use a sticky board with my screened bottom board, then it dawned on me the slatted racks I'm using might interfere with the count. The slats on these don't run length-wise with the frames. The slats run side-to-side.
Does anyone know how this will affect a varroa count? Or even more importantly, should I ditch these slatted racks altogether and get the other kind? (I'm picturing mites landing on the slats right now and crawling back up into the hives!)
