    Default Hello from Northwest Missouri

I'm a new beek raising my one and only colony in a Warre Hive since April 24, 2012. I hope to learn from everyone in this forum and share my humble opinions/suggestions as my knowledge grows in beekeeping.

    Welcome Bubbles,
My wife and I have a new Warre and a couple of top bar hives going this year,We are up to almost thirty feral caught local bee hives. My home yards are overwintered here and mostly treatment free. We keep some queens and nucs available to sell/ trade locally. I have worked four years now with a couple of large commercial bee company's in Iowa, California, Texas ,Florida and The Dakotas I sale hives, Bees,, queens, custom made Warre and integrated Top Bar bee equipment Almost anything related to bees. You could say it has taken over . I only mention this as we are not far away and are building a network of beekeepers in the area We often come thru Rock port Brownsville area on our loop to farm markets and St.Joe.
Hope things go well in your first season. There are plenty of people in the area to help should you need anything. John and Lisa Hargrave Denver Mo.
We sometimes go up too Hamburg Iowa and canoe the Nishnabotna river down past your area on the way to St.Joseph or K.C. Glad to see new beekeepers in the area.
P.S. I am going on my 5th cut out/ swarm call of the week tomorrow. The wild bees are going bananas up here and it's a great time to build up a free hive but you have to feed quick or integrate with other brood. Enjoy

Thank you all for your welcome.

To John H, I will definitely keep you in mind if I need something bee-related. If you've been going up I-29 from St. Joe to Hamburg, you have definitely been passing my hometown. And we've kayaked the Nishnabotna River once also. Have you tried canoeing down the Mighty MO? Personally, I'd rather kayak the Current and Jack's Fork rivers (in Southern MO). The water there is spring-fed.

Anyway, good luck on your swarm call.
