    Default Final resting place??

Do bees have a final resting place they go to?
Every couple of days i'm finding a scattering of dead bees, many be 20 or so on the concrete apron smack in the middle of my double garage doors.
This is 10-13 feet away from the hives and around the corner from the hives.
Have not currently seen any on the ground around the hives, but i have it the past.
It is directly under the compact flourescent light on the garage wall.
At first i thought it was my imagination, i'd clean them up and few days later their back.
    Any ideas???

Maybe they're night owls and they're slamming into a light above there until they die?

Edit - I didn't read your whole post. Now that I see there is a light between the doors, like I guessed - That's what I would assume is happening. Watch them some night.

Yup, its the light. I had the same thing happening. I put the light on a motion detector so its only on when I need it. It doesn't seem to attract any bees when its only on for a few minutes at time.

My bees are attracted by fluorescent light also. There is a horrified story on the Interned when bees attacked beekeeper's wife in the forest, when she was using LED flashlight... bees are sensitive to near-UV area of spectrum ; fluorescent and LED emits in this region. Sergey

Set the computer back to factory defaults and pick up another 2 hives for the money you saved!

I don't see any of my bees around the sodium lights that are on all night long.

Sodium has a different spectrum, it is closer to IR - sort of opposite to UV. Bees are sensitive to "bluish" light. Sodium light is orange... Sergey
