Default What is it about July and August?

What is it about July and August that makes my bees super tissy? We still have some flow, and the bees have plenty of honey on them, but inspecting today they were super aggressive once I tried to check the brood boxes. Two weeks ago they were little sweethearts. Today, crawling up sleeves, finding a way under my veil and stinging any place they could- I called it after four hives and two stings under the eyes with multiple body stings.
My wife says I have ADD, but, hey look- a chicken!

Large late summer populations just means more soreheads looking to pick a fight. It always comes as a surprise to me too that my kittens have suddenly changed.

My kittens don't usually turn to lions until late fall but they do have their days sometimes in the summer.

Hey guys, just a few weeks ago I could work my hives in a long sleeve shirt and a veil but now I have to go in fully suited or pay the price in stings, the bees are lined up waiting for me when I lift the inner cover and smoke only slows them down a little. The hives are building comb and storing honey fast so I guess they have a lot to protect.....Bill

They get really annoyed when I take honey.
