Frame Feeder? Always In Last Position (end of row)?

Trying to combat the cold, wet, spring and early summer here in the PNW (Pacific North Wet) I've decided to use frame feeders. My question is: are frame feeders always placed clea=r to the side of the hive, or is it acceptable to put them in the center, so as to more accessible to the bulk of bees?

Usually they are positioned so as not to split the colony, which is what positioning the feeder in the middle of the hive would do.

How long do you plan on feeding? I am new to this and I only gave mine syrup for a short while. I was thinking that the blackberry bloom would be enough for them to build on.
While I see alot of avtivity (bees coming and going), I dont see them bringing anything back like I did 2-3 weeks ago.
How are your bees doing?

(off topic) would be nice to have forums for seperate parts of the country?
Like a PNW forum, Southeast forum, etc. Just a thought.

Having different forums for different areas of the country would be interesting but relavent? Here in Texas we have the Chihuahuan Desert on the west end near Big Bend National Park, coastal praries along the 800 miles of Gulf Coast, swampy areas in East Texas bordering Louisiana and the Pine Woods, the rolling Texas Hill Country in the middle on the Edwards Plateau and the vast open praries of North Texas near the Llano Estacado. Each area is a geographic zone unto itself with different climates, temperatures and rainfall sometimes.
PS- Frame feeders to the side for me!

Place it to the side so it is not so much "In" the colony. The bees make it accessible to everyone.

Not so much as a real plan, but my idea is to feed as long as the bees are taking it. These are first year hives, and I really want them to survive the coming winter.

I leave mine in thehives all year round. A good place to store them. I always know where they are. Unless I didn't put one in that hive or box.
