I am trying to figure out if one of my two hives is queenless. I have failed to see one for several weeks now. I have noticed no eggs or small larvae for at least 3 weeks until a couple of days ago when I saw a few small larvae. Now I am wondering if these might be from laying workers. My question is this: when capped, will the worker-laid drone brood be capped in the larger drone cells like those that the queen lays? Therefore, if I see non-drone capped cells, can I conclude that there is a queen laying within the past 3 weeks? Thanks!
