You may get lots of opinions on this one. I say oral anti-histamine and toothpaste. Baking soda seems to work very well on the sting sites. Toothpaste contains baking soda, a product everyone has in its household. I double the antihistamine dose and take it within 30 minutes, after that normal dose is fine. It does seem to help. Most people tell you to take the liquid version, but I have been using just the cheap generic tablets.

My mom got stung a few days ago and she used toothpaste and she said it worked well, and she had almost no swelling. It might not work if you put it on too long after you got stung.

Probably not getting stung, but after that some sort of alkaline paste (baking soda, toothpaste) to neutralize the formic acid and an antihistamine to reduce swelling. Benedryl seems to work the best for me, but any oral anit-histamine should help.
