Default Sad Little Comb in a Bush

We got a call from an older lady yesterday saying she had a comb growing on a tree on her fenceline. She assured us that they were bees and she was worried that they would just freeze come winter and wanted to make sure they were safe.

When we got there, this sad little comb was hanging in the tree with about 30 bees. No honey, no pollen, just this sad, dwindling thing growing off the limb.

We spent more time talking with her about bees than we did in taking this poor comb down.

She has agreed to let me place a swarm trap in the spring.
Trying very hard not to kill the bees faster than they can reproduce.

Did you combine it with one of your hives? Nature tries her best...

Absolutely did. I figure they deserve a full hive and a queen for the rest of their days.
