Hello all,

Years ago I worked for a medium sized beekeeper (~800hives) for a few summers. Enjoyed the work and learned alot. Now, 18 years later I have decided to buy a few hives and start into the hobby, with the hope of creating some additional income. My wifes grandfather was a beek and so she's as excited as I am. Hopefully in a few years it will provide good jobs for our young 3 sons.

I bought 2 2.2lbs packages from new zealand April 30 and they have been doing well. I have 2 Manitoba queens coming next week and plan to split both hives. Hopefully I can go into winter with 4 strong hives and come out next spring with 2 or more.

Really enjoy the forum and looking forward to chatting with you all.

I think I have heard of that. After a quick search I found many posts discussing it. Do you know where the best full discription of the method is?
