Default What makes the best covers

All my telescoping covers have a metal top. These present a big problem with ants getting under the metal. Telescoping covers with inner cover also provide a space for the ants.

Since ants can use this space I am assuming SHBs can also.

I am thinking of switched to mostly migratory covers. What is the preferred material for a migratory cover and is the fornt and back cleat required?

I use T&G 3/4 inch pine boards with cleats on the front and back screwed and glued.
