Default placing my hives on migratory pallets during the day.

Right now all my hives are sitting on pallets in the field. I need to place those hives on my new migratory pallets (6 hives to my new pallet and the pallet is the screened bottom ) so I would have to remove the bottom boards from my hives (hive stabled to bottom board) and place them on the new pallet. So I am looking for some tips on making this transition!
It would be convenient to do this during the day but I don't want to mess the bees up plus we are in a honey flow now.

It will definitely be better to do this during the day when the field bees are happily working. You basically have to set the hives off to each side and set the pallet in the roughly same spot the hives were in then set them back on. If you can get someone to help with the lifting, you can do it without breaking the hives down.

I did a few hundred right before almonds, prying off nailed on bottom boards, and the bees ate me up!! A Mann Lake hive mover allowed me to do it without any help. Its not that bad of a job when the bees are in a flow, other than the heavy lifting. The bees will be confused for a short time but will soon figure it out.

Hey loggermike: I went looking at mannlake.com for the hive mover tool but couldn't find it. Do you have a part number? I bought one from Dadant but you need two people to use it.

Looks like they have gone up in price since I bought one a few years ago, but then so has everything else. It has been a real work saver when sorting hives right before the almonds. you just have to make sure there is enough room between pallets to maneuver.
