Personally, I prefer the Mann Lake PF120's, and when I can I cut them out of their plastic frames and install them in wooden frames. None of the manufacturer's of beeswax coated plastic foundation seem to apply an optimal amount of beeswax to the foundation, it is very advantageous to add additional beeswax to the foundation before offering it to the bees.

There are a few threads and videos about applying more wax. It seems the easiest is to slightly melt some wax and apply it using a foam brush.

I watched this old Russian beek use an old Devilbiss paint sprayer filled with beeswax he would heat it on a hot plate then spray it across the frames, it worked well..

I buy the Pierco foundation unwaxed and wax it myself. Since you are going to have to add more wax, its cheaper to buy it unwaxed and lighter for shipping so you save money two ways.

Melt some wax in a crockpot and brush it on using a foam paint brush. Whatevers left over just put the lid on and set on shelf till you need more. Works like a charm.

All this talk about waxing foundation is confusing to me. I just use the waxed Perma-Dent and never have a problem. My guru turned me on to this stuff nine years ago and from my experiences with it I can't believe I ever used anything else.
