this spring has been crazy, warm then cold then warm. I have a hive that was looking to swarm, probably 6 swarm cells in all,I located the queen and removed her and 3 frames of brood and one of honey. replacing them with drawn comb, will this trick the hive into thinking they have swarmed or is that just wishful thinking on my part.

It may or may not work. It is worth a shot and I would reduce the herd of swarm cells down to two so you have a replacement queen and a spare.
