Third week inspection question? Are they building enough comb?

Hi all I'm new to bee keeping and new to top bar hives and had a question? I hived a 3 lb. package of bees three weeks ago and they only have comb built to the 5th bar I was wondering if they should have more or if this is normal I'm also feeding a 1:1 syrup I know there is eggs larva and capped brood. So if you could let me know I would be greateful.

This is also my first year beekeeping. For comparison, I installed my first package in an a TBH on 3/30 and my bees have just started building out on the 8th bar.

I think you are fine since you're seeing capped brood and larva. They may be a little slow but will pick up quickly once the brood starts emerging.

You'll find different packages build at different speeds. But as Jim314 says, as long as they're making baby bees, they're on the right track. Once that brood starts hatching three weeks from when it was laid, they'll take off.

Bees build comb when they need it. Therefore they are always building enough comb as the need drives the construction...
