What is the best time of day to do a hive inspection? What about weather conditions? I just don't want to stir the little girls up any more than necessary.
Because my girls are touchy, I prefer to address them late on a warm day. That gives them all night to settle. Yesterday I caught them perfect, just before sunset. Thunder storms came two hours later, it rained all day today and I'm sure when the sun comes out Wednesday, they will have forgotten.
I asked an old codger "when is the best time to fish?" After a thoughtful pause he replied "When you can." And, that's the way I keep my bees.
