Thread: 8-Frame Bee Vac

    Default 8-Frame Bee Vac

So, after thinking and procrastinating all winter about should I or shouldn't I build my own bee vac, I find myself still without one and having some future removals, the first in about two weeks.

Unfortunately spring is so busy on the ranch I don't really have the time anymore to be building my own just now - does anyone know a good bee vac seller that fits 8-frame medium equipment? Everything I can find seems to cater to those nasty 10-frame folks

A beekeeper bully. I am noticing more feelings of inadequacy from the eight frame crowd. I guess that size does matter...

I built one on Friday and used it yesterday to do a cut-out. I just used some scrap 1x4's and plywood, then used caulking in the seams. It worked great, and only took me few hours to build. It is similar to this one (the one with a top-mounted motor).

I realize the amount of time is probably not much, but spring time is super busy for me and I can justify the cost versus time savings so I can focus on something else. I actually contacted Robo's World about the Bushkill Bee Vac and they do have 8-frame bee vacs in production, just not listed on their website. They said to go ahead and order the 10-frame version and specify in the notes that I wanted an 8-frame instead.

I placed an order online this afternoon and got a shipping notification earlier this evening...talk about FAST service! I can't wait to try it out

Take a look at this. It was very simple to build and works great. Just make sure you cut the hole to adjust the suction big enough to cover the full range of your shop vac.
