Wax scales under hive

Today I looked at the hive in my yard and noticed some white stuff under it - something that had fallen through the SBB. I picked some up and it is wax. I figure nothing is wrong since this means the bees I got this week are in there making wax and they're getting the food they need, but why are they dropping wax scales? Do they just drop some while they're working? Is it normal?

It happens.

It's kinda like working on top of a ladder putting siding up (or whatever). Occasionally you'll drop a nail or two. You gotta just keep going. Same thing with the bees.
