    Default Bee suit question

I know this horse has probably been beaten to death in the past as I have numerous threads on different bee suit topics but can't find what I need. I am wanting to buy the very best bee suit money can buy. I do not care how hot one is I just want one that you wont get stung in and it has to be able to be purchased in a 3X size which is what I seem to have trouble with.

Mann Lake told me today that the best sting resistant suit is anything Nylon made. Please help me out with the best kind and where to purchase it.

The Ultra breeze types are great, 3 layers, its like 1/4 thick, so bees can't sting through it. I have 1 is was about $150 and I love it. And being cool is a huge plus.. If you dont care about being to warm , just wear 3 sweatshirts. 8)

I've gotten exactly 0 stings though a pair of sweatpants over some good thick jeans...and 2 sweatshirts up top; tape the waist, tape the ankles to good, thick, leather boots, and then you only have to worry about veil & gloves. Your torso & legs will be pretty sting-proof (just don't forget one day & use jean shorts...I got a few stings that night).
Oh, did I mention that as long as you already have a couple changes of "winter clothes" in your size, this suit's absolutely free (minus the cost of a little duct tape)?

P.S. Before deciding on this method of protection, I actually removed & measured stingers from several dozen bees, from several diff. locations (I have bad sting reactions, so wanted to be SURE of being "sting proof"). Avg. measured stinger length was 0.13" with a max measured length of 0.2" so anything thicker than 1/5th of an inch (0.2" or 5mm) that's not "open" enough for the bees to "cheat" the tips of their abdomens closer to your skin, makes it pretty much impossible for a stinger to get through to your skin (now just to get out a better magnifier & see how far up the stingers the first barb is).

I have an Ultrabreeze full suit and have never been stung through it or had bees find their way inside. They have a 3XL size; you can look on their site to see the measurements (they used to do custom sizes also, but since Mr. Samples passed away I'm not sure if they do that anymore). They are expensive but are well worth what you pay.

I also recently bought the ultrabreeze suit after reading the reviews and it has worked like a champ. No stings! I helped a local beekeeper move africanized hives last week here in AZ and those bees were quite peeved at us. We were covered with bees and he had several get through and get him (he wore a half suit). He was sweating by the time we were done, whereas I was wearing my flight suit underneath the ultrabreeze in 84 degree temps and I wasn't sweating.

I am on my second season using the economy suit from Mann Lake and since I normally wear a second layer under the suit I have not issues with stings but I sure did get a good sweat going. I have been considering the ultrabreeze but the price has been the roadblock. The Mann Lake vented suit claims similar protection with its three layers being too thick to sting through. Anyone have experience with the Mann Lake Vented Suit (VS-3xx)?

Since you like Mann Lake you'll love their new ventilated suit. It's basically and Ultra Breeze but cost less.
I just re-queened a very hot hive today without one sting. Believe me, they were all over me trying.

You can get a painter's Tyvek suit for just a few bucks - sting proof but hotter than all get out. But, when I was a new beek, it came in handy from time to time.

Now I have an UltraBreeze, and recommend it highly.

I would go with the Ultra Breeze as well, it is very durable, and you here alot of good things about them. I own one and they are worth the money in my opinion. They are virtually sting proof.

I second that, I love my full suit.
The only time I have been stung in one is through my leather gloves. When on of the little buggers was able to slip a stinger through the stitching on a seam.

I bought the full suit off ebay from Pestmall. $ 46.95 and is complete with gloves. Have not been stung through it, fair vision through the veil, no way for the bees to get inside that I've found.

When it comes to ultrabreeze I am kinda bias due to the fact that they are made just up the road in Tulsa, OK and that Bill Samples AKA Magnetman was a long time and respected contributor to the forums.

I'm biased too, but I love my ultrabreeze full suit. It makes dealing with hot hives and beekeeping in August much more fun. Only problem is, my wife has started helping me some, and she steals it.

I just got a vented bee suit from Pigeon Mountain. I'm impressed with how it's made and performed so far....I really don't think they will be able to get me this year. It's much better than wearing the light gray hooded sweatshirt w/ veil....that was not fun in July and August! I couldn't quite swing the price of the ultrabreeze....

Ultrabreeze - best by far. I have the jacket and have never been stung through it.
