Are these remnants of dead brood?

Saw a pile of this on the bottom board of my friends parent colony after a split.

There were some frames of dead brood inside and since I'm a newbie thought I'd ask.
Maybe this is what hygienic behaviour looks like.

It looks like chalkbrood or stonebrood.
